Hurriyat chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was detained by police and put under house arrest to prevent him from organising the march from his residence in Nageen area of the city. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front head Yasin Malik was also detained along with dozens of his supporters near Budshah bridge.
